SMA has donated a week in a Cornish holiday cottage as an auction prize at a Charity Gala held at the Celtic Manor Resort during October.
The event, which was organised by the Mayor of Newport, Councillor Matthew Evans, was attended by many of Newport’s finest, including celebrities, sportspeople and business people who have links with the city. The aim of the event is to raise money for the mayor’s nominated charities, Teenage Cancer Trust and Newport Sea Cadets.
“We took a table of ten to the event as we are passionate supporters of the Mayor’s charity work,” explained Catherine Morgan. “We were pleased to be joined by guests that included Matthew Cowley, the Regional Director of Associated British Ports; Paul Harris, the Deputy Police Commissioner; and Jane and Peter Cox. We donated a week at our Cornish cottage as an auction prize and we were delighted when it was auctioned for £600, which is a fabulous amount for a very worthy good cause.”
The Charity Gala attracted a host of well-known names including Christian Malcolm, Jamie Baulch , Phillip Price, Sean McGoldrick, former rugby player and explorer Richard Parks, Torchwood actor Gareth David Lloyd and compere and DJ Tony Wright.
